Junior youth are those aged between 11-14. The Universal House of Justice describes them as a “special group with special needs, as they are somewhat in between childhood and youth” (Ridvan 2000 message).
Groups are open to all junior youth regardless of faith, and are increasingly being held at the neighbourhood level. Groups are facilitated by an older youth or adult, known as an ‘animator’. To train as a junior youth animator there is a 6-7 day training course available, suitable for those who have completed Books 1-4 of the main sequence of courses.
Intensive animator training courses are listed on the calendar, which is on the tibuk homepage.
More guidance from the Baha’i World Centre relating to junior youth groups can be found on the ‘Guidance Documents’ pages of this site, and animator resources including lesson plans can be found in the ‘Animator Resources’ page.
